A lasting gift to care for your community in the future
Did you know that 1 in 3 of our patients are supported by the generous gifts people leave in their wills? These gifts are so important to the Hospice and make a big difference to the care we can give to patients and the people closest to them.
While we know your family and friends are your priority, if you are able to leave a gift to the Hospice, no matter how big or small, it will help us continue to make a difference, so patients and the people who matter to them are supported through dying, death and loss.
Will Making Seminar
We will be holding a Will Making Seminar on Wednesday 9th April at 3pm at the Hospice.
The event will be hosted by Aileen Francis, who is a Senior Partner at Percy Walker & Co LLP. Aileen will be offering free advice at an informal drop in session to learn more about making or amending your will.
No booking is necessary and we invite you to come along, meet an expert, and find out more about making your will.
How to leave a gift in your will
Find a solicitor
We always recommend taking legal advice when making or updating your will. If you have a complex estate (trusts or foreign assets) or have a large estate above the inheritance tax threshold, or where there’s a worry due to medication or dementia related illness we recommend seeing a solicitor face to face. If you need to find a local solicitor visit the Law Society website.
Make a will online
Alternatively, you could consider visiting Make a Will Online, a company that make solicitor-checked wills for supporters of St Michael’s Hospice.
Each will is checked by a qualified solicitor, you will receive feedback and if there are any issues these will be raised with you. You can contact their helpline at no extra charge. When you make a will through this online service, details of any gifts left to the Hospice will be shared with us. You’ll have the option whether to share your name and contact details so we can say thank you or alternatively if you want to make a will completely anonymously. Visit their website for more information, or click the button below.
St Michael’s Hospice is unable to provide legal advice.
