At St Michael’s Hospice, we recognise the importance of our role in keeping everyone we support safe from harm. This includes our patients and their families, whether they are adults or children, as well as our staff, volunteers, donors, supporters, and the wider community.
Our commitment to safeguarding is based on our core values and involves everyone in our organisation. We aim to create a safe environment through prevention and shared awareness, supported by strong policies.
For adults in our care, we follow the Care Act, which legally requires us to protect them. For children we re in contact with, we adhere to the Children Act 2003 and Children Act 1989 to ensure their safety and welfare.
We collaborate with the Local Authority and other partners to safeguard those at risk of abuse, neglect, or improper treatment. We maintain an open and transparent culture where our staff and volunteers are trained to recognise and respond quickly to safeguarding concerns.
