What is Hospice Line?
Hospice Line is a free, 24-hour telephone support service for Hospice patients, their families and carers.
Whether you’re living at home, in a care home or waiting for a visit from the Hospice Team, you can call anytime.
No matter where you are, at home, in a care home, or waiting for a visit from the Hospice Team, you can call us anytime.
You can ring us if you’re feeling worried, scared or anxious, or if you simply need some advice or reassurance. Whatever the reason, you won’t be facing it alone.

Who can use Hospice Line?
You can call Hospice Line for specialist palliative care advice whenever you need it.
We’re here for everyone involved in a patient’s care, whether you’re:

  • A patient experiencing a new or worrying symptom
  • A carer unsure about medication or pain relief
  • A doctor or healthcare professional with a clinical query.

Hospice Line is here to support you.
Patients must live in, and be registered with a GP in, one of these East Sussex areas: Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Heathfield, Uckfield, Hastings, St Leonards, Bexhill, Battle and rural Rother.

Who will answer your call?
When you ring Hospice Line, you’ll speak to one of our trained clinical administrators or healthcare assistants. They all have specialist palliative care training and experience supporting patients, families and carers. They’ll take the time to listen to what’s worrying you, talk things through, and offer clear advice and reassurance.

If your situation is more complex, they can quickly involve a specialist palliative care nurse or paramedic to make sure you get the right support.

All calls are recorded so we can maintain a high quality service. Your call will also be written into the patient’s clinical record. We may use an AI assisted medical scribe to help with this.
