Wellbeing Patient Driver Volunteer Opportunity
Do you enjoy driving and helping others? Join our Wellbeing Services team at St Michael's Hospice as a Patient Driver, where you'll play a vital role in supporting patients to access our Wellbeing Programme.
We're looking for calm, friendly volunteers who can safely transport patients and carers to and from the Hospice or Rye Hub. If you're reliable, compassionate, and enjoy being part of a supportive team, this could be the perfect role for you.
Location
- Hospice & Community (St Michael's Hospice and Rye Hub)
Availability
- Days: Weekdays – especially Mondays and Fridays
- Shifts: Flexible daytime hours
- Commitment: Minimum one day per week
What You'll Be Doing
- Liaising with the Wellbeing Coordinator and Transport Driver to identify transport needs
- Collecting patients and carers from their homes and transporting them to the Hospice or Rye Hub
- Assisting patients in and out of vehicles safely and courteously
- Returning patients home after their visit
- Following infection prevention policies and safeguarding procedures
- Using either your own vehicle or a Hospice vehicle (subject to checks)
Skills & Experience
- Full clean driving licence (minimum 3 years post-test)
- Vehicle owner with valid MOT, insurance, and excise licence (if using own vehicle)
- Good level of physical fitness
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
