The services the Hospice offers are truly wonderful

We were absolutely thrilled to receive a magnificent hamper, full of goodies and practical items for the In-Patient Unit to distribute to patients, from Hospice supporter Katie.

“I decided to put together a hamper in memory of my Nanny Tricia in time for her birthday, our first without her. I put a list together of things I thought would be helpful for the Hospice and used the Hospice’s Amazon Wishlist for inspiration and ideas. With the help of amazing family and friends I was able to purchase everything I wanted to for the hamper.

We could have chosen one of the many charities which were dear to her, but St Michael’s Hospice was at the very top of the list. They looked after my Grandpa a few years ago and the care he received was incredible. Because of the Hospice he was well enough to go home and pass away peacefully a few months later in his own home just as he wanted to.

Nanny was transferred to the Hospice from Brighton Hospital. She had a huge love for life and was the most amazing Mum, Nanny and Great Nanny. All the time she was in hospital she was very unsettled, however within hours of being at the Hospice she was visibly more settled and comfortable.

The care she received was phenomenal and the care we received as a family was too, the staff were so attentive, caring, kind and welcoming. Everything was explained to us so we were always kept in the loop and we knew she was getting the best care. The rooms are lovely, the grounds are beautiful and the team are outstanding. The services the Hospice offer are truly wonderful and we are so grateful for all they have done for my Nanny, Grandpa and my family. St Michael’s Hospice is a hospice like no other and will always be a very special place to me.”

We would like to thank Katie for sharing her story with us.
