PAT Tester Volunteer Opportunity
Are you passionate about safety and keen to make a difference in your community? Join our Retail team at St Michael's Hospice as a PAT Tester and help ensure donated electrical items are safe and ready for resale, supporting vital hospice services.
We're looking for someone with PAT testing experience or certification, who enjoys working in a busy warehouse environment and being part of a supportive team.
Location
- Donation Centre Warehouse
Availability
- Days: Monday–Friday
- Shifts: 9am–1pm or 1–4pm
- Commitment: Minimum one shift (half a day) per week
What You'll Be Doing
- Visually inspecting electrical items for faults and wear
- PAT testing donated electrical goods to ensure safety
- Completing checklists and marking items with pass/fail stickers
- Removing unsafe items from circulation following in-house procedures
- Handling larger appliances (manual handling involved)
- Liaising with Warehouse Supervisor or Distribution & Logistics Manager regarding concerns
Skills & Experience
- PAT testing certificate or demonstrable experience (essential)
- Awareness of Health & Safety standards
- Previous PAT testing experience (desirable)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
