Shape a lottery that turns every play into vital hospice care

We’re looking for Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join our Hospice Lottery Board. Whether you’re an experienced NED or looking for your first non-executive role, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of one of the UK’s most successful hospice lotteries – generating vital income that funds compassionate end of life care for people across Hastings and Rother. To date, our lottery players have raised over £10 million. Now we’re looking for people to help guide the next chapter.

What you’ll do

  • Help set the strategic direction of the Hospice Lottery, ensuring it continues to grow and deliver vital income for St Michael’s Hospice.
  • Support high standards of governance, compliance and integrity within a regulated, customer-facing environment.
  • Use your expertise to help shape performance and long-term sustainability.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Hospice and the Lottery, building strong relationships and supporting its reputation in the community.

What we’re looking for

We welcome applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds. Whether you’re an experienced Non-Executive Director or stepping into your first Board role, we’ll support you to make a valuable contribution to the Lottery Board.

We’re particularly interested to hear from people who have experience in one or more of the following to help strengthen the skills represented on our board:

  • Customer-facing or regulated sectors (e.g. gambling, betting or similar environments)
  • Digital platforms or online services, and how organisations engage people and build trust
  • Marketing, brand or customer experience, particularly at scale
  • Growing income, commercial activity, financial management or audit.

You’ll also bring sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to think strategically, along with a commitment to our values of kindness, inclusivity, respect and innovation.

Why join us?

This is a chance to use your skills and experience to make a meaningful difference for local people.

You’ll help shape a successful, income-generating part of the Hospice that has contributed more than £10 million to local hospice care to date.

As a Non-Executive Director, you’ll have the opportunity to build your Board experience within an established organisation where you can learn, contribute and see the difference your input makes.

These are voluntary roles, requiring around two days per quarter for Board meetings and related activity. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
