Support for progressive neurological conditions

These videos have been created to support people living with progressive neurological conditions, as well as the family members, friends and carers who support them.

In 2025/2026 St Michael’s Hospice held a monthly support group for patients and carers affected by progressive neurological conditions. As part of the Active Connections programme, we invited a selection of attendees and carers to share their voices on film.  These videos offer a personal insight into living with, or caring for someone with, a life-limiting neurological condition.  Through their own words, participants highlight the realities, challenges and impact of these conditions, as well as what they would like others to better understand.

The collection also includes short films from different members of our team, explaining the support, guidance and practical help we can offer at St Michael’s Hospice to people affected by progressive neurological conditions. These videos introduce the range of support available and aim to help people feel more informed, reassured and connected.

In these videos, people speak openly about what it is like to live with a progressive neurological condition.  They share how this affects daily life, relationships, independence and wellbeing while also reflecting on what they wish others knew about their experiences.  Their voices help raise awareness and understanding of the person behind the diagnosis.

Carer’s Voice

These videos give carer’s the opportunity to share their own experiences of supporting someone with a neurological illness. They explore both the day-to-day reality of providing care and the wider impact that caring can have on a carer’s own life, health and wellbeing.
