Volunteer Retail Assistant – St Michael’s Hospice, Kings Road, St Leonards-on-Sea

Our Kings Road shop is a busy and vibrant part of the local community. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming experience for customers and helping to raise the funds that enable St Michael’s Hospice to provide compassionate care and support to local people and their families.
What You’ll Be Doing
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with customers and would like to gain experience in retail operations. You could be:
- Greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Operating the till and processing cash and card transactions.
- Handling money and helping to ensure transactions are processed accurately.
- Promoting and processing our hospice lottery.
- Supporting Gift Aid enquiries and transactions.
- Helping customers with purchases and donations.
- Keeping the shop clean, tidy and appealing to customers.
- Supporting the Shop Manager and wider volunteer team.
- Promoting the work of St Michael’s Hospice.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for volunteers who are:
- Friendly, approachable and enjoy meeting people.
- Comfortable handling money and using a till (training will be provided).
- Confident speaking with customers and promoting opportunities such as Gift Aid and the hospice lottery.
- Reliable with good timekeeping.
- Willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Positive, enthusiastic and keen to make a difference.
Retail or customer service experience is welcome but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

Availability
We are currently looking for a volunteer to support our team on:
- Friday, 10.00am to 1.00pm
- Commitment: A regular weekly shift is preferred
