Our impact

St Michael’s Hospice is here for our 190,000-strong community across Hastings and Rother, enabling people who need us to live well with dying, death and loss. In 2024/25, we supported over 1,500 patients with free care and support, including home visits, inpatient care, and wellbeing groups.

Our work generated more than £24 million in social value for our community in 2022 and 2023, proving that hospice care is not only compassionate but transformative.

Our social value report

We commissioned a Social Value Report in 2024 to demonstrate the significant difference we make to our community in East Sussex.

Social value is the wider benefit our Hospice creates beyond financial returns - though our report evidences those too - from improving health and wellbeing to helping people feel prepared, supported, and less vulnerable when life gets tough. It shows how every pound invested in St Michael’s Hospice delivers far-reaching impact: from expert palliative and end-of-life care to reducing isolation and enhancing quality of life for those indirectly touched by our services.

Based on full-year data from 2022 and 2023, with insights from 2024/25, the report reveals that for every £1 given, we return £1.50 in value to the local community. When you give, we give back - creating even greater impact for every pound entrusted to us.
