In July, we invited trainees from Little Gate to the Hospice for a guided tour. Our goal was to build trusting relationships with neurodiverse individuals and those with learning difficulties. During the visit, we connected, learned, and worked toward creating a more inclusive environment.

Through conversations with Little Gate in Rye, East Sussex, we discovered that individuals with neurodiversity and learning difficulties faced several barriers when engaging with the Hospice. To address this, we partnered with Little Gate through the Bereavement First Aid project and the Compassionate Communities Team. By listening to the perspectives and expectations of the trainees, we’ve taken steps to make Hospice services more accessible to neurodiverse groups.
