Tim Reeves began The Lingfield Race Day event in aid of St Michael’s Hospice after his friend Barry Gurr died in 2010. Barry received support and care from their Hospice Outreach Team. Lingfield Race Day has become a very popular annual event, which took place in May this year and saw coaches full of Hospice supporters come together in memory of Barry, and to raise vital funds. The Hospice would like to say a huge thank you to Tim and friends, for raising an amazing £11,359.80.
Tim said: “I would like to thank the sponsors, raffle, auction prize donators and everyone who attended the race day, which was over 180 people. Everyone, myself included, had a great day and even won a few bob along the way. I really enjoy putting this event on in memory of my friend Barry and look forward to next year, keep your eye out for the date.”
Senior Community Events Fundraiser, Laura Sully, said: ‘We are incredibly thankful to Tim for putting on this annual event, in aid of his friend Barry. A lot of organising and hard work goes into it and it takes months and months to organise, so we really do appreciate all of Tim’s time and effort. The amount raised is outstanding and we are truly thankful to everyone who supports Tim by coming along to the race day, those that sponsor the programme and to everyone who very kindly donates prizes for the event. Tim’s ongoing support in memory of his friend is inspirational and we look forward to next year’s event.” Tim has plans to continue Lingfield Race Day next year and encourages everyone to come along.
