We understand that plans for a new hospice building might raise some questions for people whose loved ones’ ashes are interred in the Hospice Gardens of Remembrance.
Last year, we contacted as many people as possible connected with interments in the gardens to share information about the new building plans, hear any concerns, and answer questions. We followed up again this year with an update.
We’re working closely with specialists on different aspects of the new building project. Specifically in relation to our Gardens of Remembrance, we’ve had an initial exchange with an expert in ecclesiastical law to better understand what would be required should we ever need to make plans for this space. To be clear, there are no plans for this at present, as we continue to explore staying at our current site.
If any changes to the gardens are needed in the future, we’re committed to ensuring that the burial sites of people’s ashes in our gardens, along with dedicated plants, benches, and plaques, are all respected and planned for appropriately.
If you are the next of kin or named contact who requested an interment, or someone associated with an interment, and haven’t heard from us, please get in touch by emailing us.
