Clinical Administration Support Volunteer Opportunity

Help us provide excellent care behind the scenes by supporting the smooth running of our Clinical Administration team.

We are looking for a Clinical Administration Support Volunteer to assist with a range of essential administrative tasks that help our clinical services operate effectively. Your contribution will support our staff in delivering compassionate care to patients and families by ensuring important records, documents and communications are managed accurately and efficiently.

About the Role

The Clinical Administration team plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of hospice care. As a Clinical Administration Support Volunteer, you’ll help with a variety of administrative duties, including preparing patient documentation, maintaining electronic records and assisting with general office tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys organised, detail-focused work and would like to use their administrative skills to make a meaningful difference. While the role is primarily office-based and non-patient facing, you will be working within a sensitive healthcare environment where confidentiality is essential.

St Michael’s Hospice

Availability

  • Monday and/or Wednesday afternoons
  • Regular ongoing commitment preferred
  • Flexible arrangements may be discussed
  • We also occasionally have short-term and project-based volunteering opportunities within Clinical Administration for those who may not be able to commit on a long-term basis

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of patient records
  • Uploading and filing information on electronic systems
  • Answering telephone calls and taking messages appropriately
  • Redirecting or escalating calls when required
  • Assembling admission, discharge and bereavement information packs
  • Processing surveys and recording responses accurately
  • Updating databases and maintaining accurate records
  • Keeping progress logs and updating the Clinical Administration team on completed tasks
  • Ensuring information is stored securely and confidentially
  • Supporting the team with general administrative duties as required

Skills & Experience

  • Good administration skills and experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and databases
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and work accurately
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is helpful but not essential
  • Comfortable using computer systems and learning new software

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
