Volunteer to Career is an exciting new initiative where we give people from Hastings and Rother a unique opportunity to take part in an eight week development programme that provides a kick-start into a career in healthcare. In committing to 3-6 voluntary hours per week, the course gives participants inside access and hands-on experience within our services.

The volunteers got to spend time on our hospice In-Patient Unit and also with our Wellbeing and Community teams. They were also able to work directly with our patients, supporting them with personal care but also other activities such as serving meal choices and keeping them company through chat or creative activities.

They also got to learn about how we support our patients with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social activities and community care services.

A big congratulations to Ellie, Grace, Lisa, Mo and Simo! We’re so proud of what they’ve achieved — here’s to bright careers in health and social care!
