Overview
Volunteering as a Bereavement Counsellor at St Michael’s Hospice is a rewarding role that provides vital support to individuals experiencing grief and loss. To prepare for this role, all volunteers must complete our Bereavement Volunteer Training Course.
This course is designed for counselling students in Year 2 and above and offers practical guidance, emotional insight, and a safe space to develop the skills needed for this specialist role.

Training Schedule
Dates: Wednesday evenings from 27th May 2026 to 12th August 2026
- May: 27th
- June: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
- July: 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
- August: 5th, 12th

Application Process
Due to high demand and limited spaces, interviews will be offered to applicants who best meet the following criteria:
- Currently in Year 2 or above of counselling training
- Available for all training dates
