The nurses are lovely, I can’t fault them

“I really don’t know how I thought the Hospice would be, maybe more clinical, and a bit like an old people’s home, perhaps fuddy-duddy even. But being here is totally different, and not what I expected at all, it’s beautiful. My bedroom is lovely, with double doors that open onto the garden, so I can watch my son Christopher play Pokémon in the Hospice garden.

I was really hesitant and anxious about coming to the Hospice, but my friend who works at the Hospice, persuaded me to pop up and have a look, and I’ve not looked back. My bedroom is a big enough for Christopher to play and for Christopher and Michael, my husband, can both stay over, which means I can keep them close to me.

The nurses are lovely, I can’t fault them. Everyone here understands what I’m going through and are brilliant listeners. When I arrived I was made to feel so welcome and with open arms.

If anyone else finds themselves needing the help and support of the Hospice, I would say don’t be afraid and to just do it! My pain control is 90% better since I came in and everyone is so friendly.” Jenny
