What is the role?
Using a Hospice vehicle, you will assist our busy Fundraising team with the collection and delivery of items that are sent out to our supporters in the Hastings & Rother area. You will also transport and erect signs and equipment if appropriate, to various sites for our fundraising events which take place throughout the year.
Frequency: On a regular basis, organised in advance with additional ad hoc driving, when required.
What will I be doing?
Role tasks:
- Delivering, erecting and collecting direction signs to signpost events from the roadside, if appropriate
- Delivering promotional materials to venues for various fundraising campaigns, such as Open Gardens and Yellow Week
- Helping to unload the fundraising van prior to an event and reloading at the end, if appropriate.
- Helping to erect gazebos.
- Swapping full collection pots for new ones on an ad hoc basis.
- Assisting with deliveries for events where relevant (banners, t-shirts, fundraising packs, etc.. for our supporters.)
- Delivering flyers for children’s events to local schools, when required
Skills and Experience Required:
- Must have a full clean driving licence (Category B) and happy to drive manual gearbox vehicles of different sizes, including vans with no rear windows
- Good team working and communication skills are a must, as you will be working as part of a broader team
- A good level of physical fitness is required as this will be an active role and will involve manual handling
- Good timekeeping and ability to manage own workload
Personal Qualities Required:
- Friendly and able to build a rapport with people from all backgrounds, as you will be in contact with supporters of the Hospice across Hastings & Rother
- Ability to work on own initiative, but able to follow instructions and understand when it is appropriate to seek further guidance from the Fundraising team
- Positive outlook, with a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Must enjoy being out and about, and confident when working remotely as you may be lone working at times
- Open to learning new skills and attending training as required
