This December, St Michael’s Hospice offers the community of Hastings and Rother dedicated time to reflect upon the past year and spend time remembering family and friends who are sadly no longer with us, in the form of their Lights of Love celebrations.

This year’s Lights of Love events will take place at venues in Battle, Bexhill on Sea, Hastings, St Leonards on Sea, Rye and Winchelsea. The Hospice encourages everyone to join them at their Lights of Love events, whether your loved one was cared for by the Hospice or not, lived locally or further afield, all can be remembered at Lights of Love. The events will be held between 3rd – 10th December and the Hospice invites you to join with the community to share in a time of reflection and find comfort in spending time with others who may be experiencing similar thoughts and feelings around the festive period.

You are invited to decorate a personal star dedication and bring this along to the celebrations with you to hang on one of the Lights of Love trees at the venue of your choice. The stars are environmentally responsible and can be picked up from any of the Hospice shops, or requested through the Fundraising team. Tree lighting ceremonies will take place directly after each celebration, followed by hot and cold refreshments and mince pies.

Spiritual Support Coordinators Sarah Geall and Naga Siddhi say; “Over the years we have shared Lights of Love with so many of you, for some 2023 will be the first time you experience the event, for others taking part has become a tradition in the run-up to the Christmas season. The sights and sounds of Lights of Love are incredibly evocative, the twinkling tree lights, the messages of remembrance, the lighting of candles and the voices sharing stories of loved ones, come together to create an atmosphere of understanding, care and support. We look forward to seeing familiar and new faces again this year.”
