Whether it’s a quirky 1980s summer house, a koi pond or a bed of tropical plants that you’re interested in, there’s something for everyone at this season’s Open Gardens.

Taking place all over Hastings and Rother, private garden owners are swinging open their gates for all ages to enjoy and explore, all in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.

Visiting the Open Gardens is the perfect way to make the most of the outdoors this summer. Maybe you’ve got an hour or two to spare and would like to spend some time outdoors, soaking up the peace and tranquility, or maybe you have children who love to explore and learn about plants and wildlife? There is something for everyone.

When and where are this year’s Open Gardens?

Our Open Garden season runs from May until July and are held in private residential gardens throughout Hastings and Rother in East Sussex. Open Gardens offers a rare opportunity to explore picturesque hidden gardens that would not normally be open the the public. You can find full monthly listings below:

How much is entry?

Entry to the gardens starts from £5 (under 16s go free) and varies depending on the size, activities and number of gardens that are open on that day. Some entry fees include access to multiple gardens on the same day. We welcome families and kid’s activity packs, including a booklet and crayons, are available for just £1.

Terms and conditions for Kids Activity Pack Competition

  • Send us your entry by midday on the 23rd July 2024.
  • The competition is open to UK residents under the age of 16.
  • The prize will be a hamper of toys and children’s activities.
  • We’ll contact the winner within 28 days of the closing date. If the winners cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winners and pick a replacement winner.
  • We will notify the winners when and where the prize can be collected.
  • The winners and their parent/guardian agree to the use of their name, age and image in any publicity material, as well as their drawing entry.
  • Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
