Lead a lottery that turns every play into vital hospice care
We’re looking for a Chair and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join our Hospice Lottery Board. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of one of the UK’s most successful hospice lotteries – generating vital income that supports compassionate end of life care across Hastings and Rother.
Every ticket played helps fund hospice care for local people and families. To date, our lottery players have raised over £10 million. Now we’re looking for people to help shape what comes next.
What you’ll do
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Hospice Lottery, ensuring it continues to grow and deliver vital income for St Michael’s Hospice .
- Support high standards of governance, compliance and integrity within a regulated, customer-facing environment.
- Use your expertise to help shape strategy, performance and long-term sustainability.
- Act as an ambassador for the Hospice and the Lottery, building strong relationships and supporting its reputation in the community.
- For the Chair role, you will also lead the Lottery Board, provide constructive support and challenge, and build strong relationships with the Hospice Chair, Chief Executive and Income Generation Director.
What we’re looking for
We welcome applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds and will support you if you’re stepping into your first Board role.
We’re particularly interested to hear from people who have experience in one or more of the following to help strengthen the skills represented on our board:
- Customer-facing or regulated sectors (e.g. gambling, betting or similar environments)
- Digital platforms or online services, and how organisations engage people and build trust
- Marketing, brand or customer experience, particularly at scale
- Growing income, commercial activity, financial management or audit.
You’ll also bring sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to think strategically, along with a commitment to our values of kindness, inclusivity, respect and innovation.
Why join us?
This is a chance to use your skills and experience to make a meaningful difference in your community.
You’ll help shape a successful, income-generating part of the Hospice that directly supports patient care – ensuring we can continue to be there for people when it matters most.
These are voluntary roles, requiring around two days per quarter for Board meetings and related activity (with additional time for the Chair). Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
