We are excited to be launching an improved 24/7 advice line for patients, family members and health professionals.
Hospice Line is a partnership between St Michael’s Hospice (Hastings and Rother) and St Wilfrid’s Hospice (Eastbourne). It will replace existing advice lines (our Telephone Support Line, and St Wilfrid’s Hospice Nurse Line) from 1st June.
Why are we introducing Hospice Line?
We know that the Telephone Support Line and Nurse Line are highly valued by our communities. They have provided expert and compassionate advice and practical support to thousands of people, many of whom tell us that they have been a lifeline.
Hospice Line builds on our years of knowledge and experience so that we can help more people, more often, whilst reducing costs.
What’s different?
- A bigger, dedicated, team. Our support lines have always been available 24 hours a day, but calls were sometimes answered by our Inpatient Unit teams. Hospice Line will have its own team day and night, meaning patients and carers will get consistent support from a dedicated team more quickly.
- More help over the phone. As well as the support our advice lines are well known for, the team will now be able to review medication and sort out urgent prescriptions over the phone. Meaning patients can get what they need faster.
- More face-to-face visits. Creating a dedicated team shared across both hospices means that the rest of our specialist end of life and palliative care team can spend more time with patients.
- Reduced costs. The partnership between St Michael’s Hospice and St Wilfrid’s Hospice means both hospices can offer an improved service at a lower cost.
How do I access Hospice Line?
Hospice Line is available to any patient (and their carers) of St Michael’s Hospice or St Wilfrid’s Hospice. You can continue to use the telephone number that you have been given. Our trained, compassionate health professionals will be able to support you. Call us anytime on 07967 724731.
