Hospice Ambassador Volunteer

Days: This will be dependent upon the rolling programme for the year and unplanned requests we receive for a talk

Location: In the community

What is the role?

Our Hospice Ambassadors are a group of passionate, enthusiastic and confident volunteers, trained by St Michael Hospice whose aim is to promote our services in the community and raise awareness of our fundraising activities, volunteering and staff opportunities.

What will I be doing?

• Giving short talks in the local community (E.g. Schools, Churches, Groups) about the services St. Michael’s Hospices delivers and how people can provide support through activities, fundraising and volunteering etc.
• Deliver ‘targeted’ talks on different topics and to varied audiences, dependent upon the hospices need
• Helping reduce the fear and increase understanding of Hospice care
• Collecting cheques and making thank you presentations to those who have supported St Michaels Hospice
• Identifying and building a network of contacts and new opportunities to engage with new groups and clubs in the local community, particularly in the area in which you live
• Signposting people to St Michaels Hospice if they, a family member, carer or some they know could benefit from our services
• Passing back any information or talk requests to the co-ordinator
• Representing St Michaels Hospice at our or other local events through running an Information Stand or being a guest of honour
• Liaise with the co-coordinator to ensure appropriate thank you letters, receipts and certificates are issued where necessary
• Getting individuals, groups, business etc. involved in our events, fundraising appeals and campaigns like  Yellow Week and Make a Will
• Encouraging your family, friends, colleagues and online networks to support us
• Provide feedback to the co-ordinator following each event/talk
