Driver and Driver Companion

Days: To be arranged between you and the Day Services Manager

Location: The Hospice, Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards on Sea, TN38 0LB, and in the community.

What is the role?

Transporting and supporting patients to attend our Day Services, Lymphoedema clinic and Rehabilitation and Fitness Service (RAF) here at St Michael’s Hospice.

What will I be doing?

• Ensuring you comply with the driving standards set by the Highway Code and St Michael’s Hospice
• Driving one of the fleet of vehicles or using your own vehicle, (if appropriate) bringing patients to the Hospice and taking them home
• Helping patients in and out of the vehicle
• Assisting those who need help in and out of their home and Hospice building
• Following procedures with regard to moving and handling persons/wheelchair users 
• Interacting with and supervising patients during their journey
• Escorting the patients on the journeys as and when needed
• Attending training which will ensure you perform your role safely, competently and confidently
• Attending relevant training, support meetings and supervisions as required
• Understanding and demonstrating relevant policies and procedures during your volunteering at St Michael’s Hospice.
