Our new Hospice: CGIs revealed
There will be 26 fully equipped good sized ensuite bedrooms, with access to a Jacuzzi bathroom. The rooms have been designed to use colours to calm, heal and bring a sense of tranquility to our patients and their families. We are working with a specialist colour consultant from Dulux, who is kindly donating this service free of charge to us.
The new ensuite shower rooms feature contrast fittings in dark blue to enable our patients to find their way easily around the room. The healing colours will also be incorporated.
Our clinical team have spent time working with other Hospices and our architect to ensure the new rooms provide the best possible comfort for our patients.
A majority of the rooms boast breath taking sea views or a beautiful outlook over our much loved landscaped gardens.
Our new reception and coffee shop will be a bright, airy space; the existing conservatory will be extended to provide more comfortable sitting space for our patients, their family and friends. The refurbished area will also provide new therapy rooms for use for by the Hospice and the Sara Lee Trust, access to RAFS (Rehabilitation and Fitness Service) and in addition will allow us more space to showcase local artists, making this the welcoming heart of the Hospice.
The improved and extended coffee shop provides a comfortable area where visitors, patients and their relatives can sit and relax and enjoy a delicious selection of cakes, pastries and savoury snacks along with freshly brewed coffee. The reception and coffee shop are staffed entirely by our dedicated volunteers. We are open from 8.30am to 8pm, (coffee shop opens at 9am). There is separate access for patients’ relatives outside these hours to the In-Patient Unit.
If we are in the fortunate situation of raising in excess of £1million from the Phoenix Appeal, all additional funds will be put towards the wider costs of the capital build project, the total cost of which will be in the region of £4million.
