Re-enablement and Fitness Service
The Re-enablement and Fitness Service also known as RAFS is a new incentive from St Michael's Hospice offering high quality care and support to those who have access to our inpatient, Day Services and community facilities.
The RAFS team currently offers:
- Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to In-Patient and Day Services
- Breathlessness clinics
- Seated exercise groups within Day Services
- A community fitness program in a variety of community locations with qualified trainers (Tuesday and Thursday mornings).
The RAFS team is also excited to announce that in the early part of 2017 a new specialist re-enablement gym will be opening at the hospice. This gym located on the ground floor for easy access will over a time offer a variety of exercise classes designed to maximise function and quality of life. Following one to one therapy assessments and in induction to the gym clients will be invited to attend appropriate classes. These classes may vary in intensity and duration and may also have some individual elements for clients to complete. There will be an opportunity to work on cardiovascular fitness as well as balance, co-ordination and muscle strength.
