In January 2017, the community clinical nurse specialist service (formerly known as the Macmillan Nurses) transferred from East Sussex Health Care Trust to St Michael’s Hospice. Initially, due to vacancies within the team, there was a shortfall in the service. However, we have now completed the recruitment process and we now have three community clinical nurse specialists in post.
All of our clinical nurse specialists have a wealth of experience in specialist palliative care and have been working within the Hospice in different roles.
The Clinical Nurse Specialists will be working alongside our Hospice at Home Staff Nurses and Health Care Assistants as one team. This is an exciting time for our community service as it will enable us to develop our services and improve continuity of care. We are also excited about the opportunities for us to increase collaborative working with our community colleagues to continue providing high quality person-centred care.
