Coffee Shop Volunteer

Days: At least one shift per week dependent upon shift and your availability

Location:  The Hospice, Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards on Sea, TN38 0LB

What is the role

Under the supervision of the Voluntary Services team, you will be ensuring the Hospice Coffee Shop runs smoothly, safely and delivers an excellent experience for patients, staff and visitors.

What will I be doing?
  • Ensuring that the café environment is welcoming and customers are served in in a pleasant and courteous manner
  • Preparing, handling and serving food and beverages to patients, staff and visitor
  • Arriving promptly for your shift and informing Voluntary Services well in advance of any extended period of leave (eg holiday)Ensuring the coffee shop is clean, tidy and presented attractively
  • Taking orders for hot food and ensuring they are correctly ready on time and paid for
  • Operating the till
  • Assisting with ordering and restocking of supplies
  • Washing up and loading/unloading the dishwasher
  • Keeping cleaning and temperature records
  • Operating the coffee machine, MerryChef Oven, hot cabinet and other small appliances
  • Ensuring food items are safely stored, labelled and within date
  • Reporting maintenance issues to Voluntary Services
  • Ensuring any risk assessments are complied with
  • Cleaning the kitchen and café area in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations and COSHH Guidance
